You may choose from several educational activities for your tea
party. Aprons will be provided.
Paper Jewelry [ ]
Victorians are famous for their jewelry. Children can
decorate cameos, bracelets, earrings, necklaces and
even learn the symbolism behind each piece. These
pieces will be ready to wear during the party.
Suggested age 6-10
Paper Dolls [ ]
Paper dolls have been a favorite of children for almost
two centuries. Prior to the 1880’s paper dolls were colored
by hand. Also, paper dolls did not have folding
tabs, instead beeswax was used to adhere the clothes to
the doll. Partygoers will create an authentic Victorian
paper doll.

Glass Paperweights [ ]
Collecting things like insects, flowers, birds, sea shells,
and butterflies was a popular pastime for Victorian
women a--nd young girls. They were displayed under
glass domes called shades. Children can make their
own miniature glass paperweight ready for display.

Miniature Trinket Boxes [ ]
Trinket boxes, tiny boxes covered with colorful scraps
of paper and fabric, decorated many Victorian parlors.
They were used for little baubles, charms, and miniature
knickknacks. Using reproductions of Victorian
papers, scraps, and buttons, partygoers can decorate a
trinket box for their own small treasures.

Mental Photography Book [ ]
These small books were popular among teenage girls in
the Victorian era. They asked their friends to answer a
list of questions on each page. These books were similar
to autograph and scrapbooks. Partygoers will have
the opportunity to create their own book capturing
memories of their experience at the Belmont Mansion.
