Majolica was introduced by Minton into the English marketplace in the 1850’s. This new ware was successfully exhibited in 1851 at the Crystal Palace Exhibition. Quickly gaining great popularity, a large number of factories in England and America began production of this colorful ware. Majolica was intended to reproduce early Continental tin-glazed earthenware.]
