Restoration at Belmont Mansion
Telling the 19th century story of Belmont Mansion, one of the most stunning Victorian homes of the antebellum South, begins with Adelicia Acklen, her family and the city of Nashville. Those stories are best told against the backdrop of this, her summer home, in the presence of a continuous process to restore that home to its original grandeur.
Each room in Adelicia Acklen’s house has either undergone or will undergo a careful restoration based on months of research and investigation and which utilizes artisans and craftspeople skilled in the decorative arts. The work includes installing reproduction wallpaper, replicating period appropriate wood graining and anaylsis of original paint to reveal period colors and ceilings murals. It is a long, but rewarding process. We invite you to join our journey of discovery.
