In 2026, we as Americans are celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary. This banner year is also the 50th anniversary of the first public tours of Belmont Mansion – not a coincidence. In 1976, communities across the nation found numerous ways to acknowledge the country’s birth and share its history. The opening of this historic house museum was one such endeavor.
When it opened, the public could only view eight rooms of the historic house. Today, 19 rooms are open for tours. In honor of this anniversary for the museum, we thought it would be fun to share some historic images of the mansion as a museum not long after we first opened. Things certainly have changed!
