Family history tells us this dresser was a gift to Adelicia from Mrs. James K. Polk. The dresser is likely a piece the Polks purchased upon their return from Washington in 1849 as they renovated their Nashville home, Polk Place. This dresser descended from Adelicia Acklen to her son Joseph Hayes Acklen to his daughter Jeannette Acklen Noel to her son Oscar Noel Jr. to his daughter Lattie Noel Brown.
