Original Collections Items

Over the years, the Belmont Mansion Association has had the opportunity to acquire many original objects that were once used here at the mansion. These objects have come to us through loans, purchases, and donations, often from Acklen family descendants or descendants of those who purchased items at the estate sale held after Adelicia's death. For more information on the Garden Ornaments, Paintings, and Prints, click here.

This page can only display 40 objects from our list. Use the filter to view all the objects based on their current location in the mansion today.

The architecture of Belmont Mansion makes it one of the most significant homes of 19th century Tennessee.

Sold by the Acklen family in 1887, the house went to a developer who began one of Nashville’s early suburbs.

It was then purchased by two women who in 1890 started a college which evolved into Belmont University. Today the Belmont Mansion Association, which was formed in 1972, owns the collection, runs the museum, and shares this unique story of 19th century Nashville with visitors from far and near.
