French Porcelain (Old Paris)
H. 20”
ca. 1850
2014.05.18 & .19EL

These urn shaped vases in the late classical style were originally located on the mantel in the Front Hall, as documented by a period photo by C. C. Giers. Such vibrant greens represent one of the most popular colors of this period. Although unsigned, the decoration on the vases relate to signed examples of the most famous of the Paris porcelain makers Jacob Petit (active 1830-1860) [1].
